Eight major hospitals of KP witness 83% increase in oxygen consumption

Owing to the rising number of coronavirus cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the consumption of oxygen in eight major hospitals of the province has increased by 83% over the last one-and-a-half week.
The consumption of oxygen across all eight major hospitals has increased from 40,000 litres to 72,500 litres.
The daily oxygen requirement at Peshawar s Lady Reading Hospital has increased by 66%, while the oxygen consumption at Khyber Teaching Hospital has increased from 6,000 litres to 7,500 litres.
Oxygen consumption in Mardan Medical Complex has increased by 23% in the last 12 days. Similarly, the consumption of oxygen in Ayub Teaching Hospital in Abbottabad increased by 66%, while it increased by 89% in Bannu s Khalifa Gulnawaz Teaching Hospital.
CM approves more posts in health sector

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has approved the creation of more posts in the Directorate General of Health Services to enhance the working capacity of the Health Department.
The approval was given at a meeting chaired by the chief minister on Sunday, said an official handout.
Health and Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Health Secretary Imtiaz Hussain Shah, Finance Secretary Aatif Rehman, Director General Health Services Dr Niaz and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
The participants of the meeting were informed that the additional directors-general to be posted at the regional level would be responsible for the recruitment, transfers, postings and promotions of health employees up to Grade 15 at the regional level.

District administrations directed to remove hiccups in PEI

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Kazim Niaz on Friday directed district administrations to ensure smooth conduct of anti-polio drive in respective districts and address the challenges in stamping out the scourge from the region.
He said this while chairing Provincial Task Force Meeting (PTF) held here at the Civil Secretariat.

PESHAWAR/ISLAMABAD: Two passengers, who recently returned from the UK, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), as the country reported 85 deaths and 2,152 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours.
KP Health Secretary Imtiaz Hussain Shah told Geo News that a total of 149 passengers had recently arrived in the province from the UK, of whom the government had traced 44 people and 32 of their contacts. “Another 54 passengers have been identified across seven districts, including Peshawar, Swabi and Nowshera and the district administrations have been tasked to trace them,” he said, adding the government had been unable to trace 46 people because they provided incorrect residential address.
