You saw right there we re following breaking news. arthur is now a hurricane. a category one hurricane bringing with it dangerous 75-mile-an-hour winds. arthur is headed straight for north carolina s outer banks, and that s where we find our indra petersons. indra, it s kind of the proverbial calm before the storm. looks beautiful there, but we know what is coming. michaela, you nailed it. this is one of those eerie days where i think about years ago, before technology, people here would have no clue a storm was brewing. the seas generally calm, maybe a couple clouds in the sky, but we do have technology and we know arthur is a category 1 hurricane, 113 miles off the coast of charleston, south carolina. if you actually look at the radar you can see the outer bands already making their impact, and it s expected to move north at 9 miles per hour now is its movement so overnight in through tomorrow morning, here on the outer banks, we do have the threat for landfall. that s the concern ....

Weekends of the year. indra peterson is right where that storm is headed in kill devil hills, north carolina. indra, give us a sense of how things look right now. you know, here s the thing. this latest update continues to tell us this system is more powerful than we even predicted earlier. right now we ve seen it pick up strength, seeing steady winds at 90 miles per hour. it is now forecasted to be a category 2, let me say that again, a category 2 hurricane, overnight tonight making a direct landfall here in the outer banks. between this evening and the early hours of tomorrow morning. right now, where is the system? it s about 90 miles offshore of charleston, south carolina, but making its way up the coast, so what you re going to be seeing is these conditions deteriorating. if you look around right now, it s a beautiful day. so many people are here for the fourth of july. they re enjoying the sunshine. unfortunately, a lot of people continue to go in the water. this is a strong co ....

The difference in how that storm is moving. fourth of july firework celebrations are being postponed in some cities from ocean city, maryland, to boston. the biggest concern obviously is the force of this storm. alina machado joins us from wrightsville beach where that storm is picking up steam. indra peterson is in kill devil hills. i ve been watching alina s outfit change through the course of the morning. indra remind us what the latest advisory is telling us. it s changing in status. this is the concern because each advisory we get continues to intensify the system more than we thought previously. meaning even the forecast continues to come in as a stronger forecast. the latest forecast brings us at 90-mile-per-hour steady biwinds but more importantly arthur should strengthen to a category 2 hurricane with winds as high as 100 miles per hour when it ....
