ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Tuesday that inefficient civil servants will be retired with all financial benefits after proper scrutiny to improve the performance of civil servants.
This was stated by Minister for National Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood while responding to a call attention notice moved by Nafisa Shah and others regarding compulsory retirement of more than 300 CSS officers in violation of the Civil Servants Act 1973, causing grave concern amongst the public. The minister said a scrutiny committee under the chairmanship of the Federal Public Service Commission chairman is looking into the matter and no arbitrary action will be taken. He added that Section 13 (1) of the Civil Servants Act 1973 fully empowered the government to devise rules to evaluate the performance of bureaucrats. ....

Opposition walks out against tabling of three ordinances in NA - Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Following the introduction of eight private members bills, the opposition staged a walkout in the National Assembly on Tuesday against tabling of three presidential ordinances which were later extended for another 120 days.
The opposition and the treasury members exchanged harsh words over the Journalists’ Protection Bill presented by Human Rights Minister Dr Shireen Mazari as it claimed that it was an old bill but the government wanted to take credit for it.
Soon after the walkout, opposition member Ibrar Ali Shah pointed out the quorum and the session started after 20 minutes. ....

ISLAMABAD - The National Assembly, on a private members day, witnessed verbal brawl between women legislators form the government and the opposition over introduction of Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals Bill, 2021 .
The lawmakers from both sides claimed ownership of the bill which is aimed at protecting rights of journalists. The arguments from both sides compelled the chair to intervene, as senior members were not shy to blame each other for plagiarism in the content of the bill. The National Assembly speaker decided to examine bills moved from both sides to reach a consensus. ....
