Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya has approached the Bombay High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with a case of misappropriation of funds registered by the Mumbai Police.
Both father and son had been booked by the Mumbai Police for misappropriation of over ₹50 crores collected for saving the decommissioning of the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Vikrant.
There is photographic evidence that the former MP collected money to restore the aircraft carrier, a special court said.
Kirit Somaiya and his son have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for criminal breach of trust (406) and cheating (420) and common intention (34).
