A 22-year-old Alabama inmate was bound, raped, beaten and found brain dead just days before his release, his family said. He had been convicted of second-degree property theft, authorities said.
Yvonne Menke, a mother of four, was shot to death in her apartment stairwell after KARE 11 reported that she and her family felt uneasy after receiving a confrontational phone call the day before her murder.
"What were you thinking?" said Sheriff Lee Foster. "I have no idea who would think that it was any way appropriate to encourage three and four-year-old children to participate in violent acts, regardless of what they thought it would do.”
Court records show the murder suspect, 31-year-old Ricky Cooper, was previously arrested in April 2022 and charged with a felony count of battery- family violence.
"That next day when the baby woke up and they pulled the sheets off of her, skin came off onto the sheets," said Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.
