One of the suspects told the SPCA a traditional healer offered them R3000 to kill the seal. The animal was euthanised after suffering devastating injuries.
The SPCA has taken two husky dogs from their owner following the killing of 19 African penguins by the off-leash dogs.
An autopsy revealed that a bullet pierced the baboon’s lung. Several air rifle pellets were also found in the animal’s body.
The SPCA had received a complaint in mid-August concerning two dogs that were kept in unsuitable conditions.
