Texas has joined four other states in banning or partially blocking the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-tied TikTok for state agencies.
Abbott says the ban is to protect the cybersecurity of Texans from the Chinese Communist party.
TikTok claimed that it stores U.S. data within the U.S., but the company admitted in a letter to Congress that China-based employees can have access to U.S. data.
South Dakota, Maryland and Wisconsin have also issued similar directives citing security concerns
