Coralville Police were called to a residence on 6 th Street just after 8:15 Saturday night, where 34-year-old Crystal Porter was allegedly fighting with the father of her child. Porter initially left the scene in an Uber, but returned a few minutes later. Police say she pushed her way into the residence and assaulted the man, tearing his shirt. 2/28/21 A local transient faces charges that he broke into an Iowa City apartment and refused to leave. According to arrest records, 24-year-old Michael Pennell forced his way into an apartment on Broadway Street by breaking the door just before 11:15 Friday night. Pennell knows the apartment owner, but does not stay there. The owner told Pennell to leave, but he allegedly refused. Pennell also allegedly refused orders to leave from arriving officers, who had to resort to force to get him into handcuffs. 2/28/21 Iowa City Police have arrested a suspect they say they found standing over an unconscious man downtown early Sunday morning. According to arrest records, officers observed 19-year-old Camden Murphy of Columbia, Missouri standing over an unconscious man on the ground near the corner of Dubuque and Burlington Streets just after 1am Sunday. Murphy allegedly fled on foot when he saw an officer in a patrol car, and refused commands to stop. A brief foot chase ensued, ending with Murphy’s capture on the 300 block of South Linn Street. According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were responding to a medical emergency just after 11 Friday morning when they observed a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Melrose Avenue and Mormon Trek Boulevard. A Cadillac involved in the incident fled the scene westbound on Melrose, and the deputies began a pursuit. The Cadillac crashed into a ditch as it was trying to turn southbound onto Highway 218.
