The EU, AU and the US have raised concerns over the ongoing Sudan war and Somalia's growing tension with Ethiopia

The 42nd Extraordinary Assembly of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Heads of State and Government which was held on Thursday in Entebbe, Uganda, voiced concerns about the situation in Sudan and recent developments regarding the relations between Ethiopia and Somalia.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development Heads of State meeting has called on the warring parties in Sudan to agree to a ceasefire, end the war and a face-to-face meeting between the two Generals.

The Commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, has confirmed to UN and European envoys that he is ready to stop the war and negotiate to end Sudan’s crisis. Earlier, the Sudanese Foreign Ministry suspended its involvement with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) after the Authority invited Dagalo to attend the scheduled summit in Uganda to discuss developments in Sudan and Somalia. The Sudanese government and army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan did not attend the IGAD summit.
