A Tazewell County man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Knox County. According to a release by the Illinois State Police, at around 4:24 Sunday morning, a 2011 Cadillac CTS was traveling west in eastbound lanes on Interstate 74 near mile marker 52 when it struck a 2009 Toyota Corolla head-on. Police say that the driver of the Corolla, a 35-year-old Mackinaw, Illinois, was killed in the accident and pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. According to ISP, the 28-year-old man lost control of the truck he was driving on an icy bridge deck on Interstate 74 near Farmer City in DeWitt County around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. The eastbound truck hit the guardrails on both sides of the road and landed in eastbound traffic. An oncoming semi then hit the truck’s driver-side door, police said.
