Central Ohio will be under a weather alert day as a system moves through our area over the weekend. Saturday morning snow showers will push through and will be heavy at times. This will be a very wet and slushy snow. Temperatures will stay mostly below freezing which will allow for some accumulation.
Sunshine briefly returns Friday ahead of large winter storm set to impact all the Susquehanna Valley first with snow, then areas along and southeast of I-81 see a wintry mix to rain later in the day. A plowable snow is likely for most of the Valley.
With rain likely and low temperatures around 30 degrees, the National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for northeast Ohio, southwest Virginia and much of West Virginia. A weekend winter weather system could bring periods of snow and a rain/snow mix including patchy freezing rain Saturday morning before transitioning to all rain by early Saturday afternoon.
