Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation safety officers were threatened with an axe and had a gun pointed at them when they responded to an emergency call, police say.
The two arrested face firearm and drug-related charges, after a traffic stop by Virden RCMP on a Manitoba highway, in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.
Mounties were called to Sioux Valley First Nation and found a 21-year-old man who had been shot and transported him to hospital, but he died from his injuries.
Police said there were several adults and children inside the home at the time, but no one was injured.
