Filipino news anchor's footage manipulated to sell unregistered 'diabetes pill'
Contrary to false claims shared in manipulated news clips online, medical experts told AFP that metformin is a safe and efficient drug to treat type 2 diabetes. The edited clips, which bear a Philippine broadcaster's logo, also promote the sale of an unregistered drug that falsely claims to treat the condition. The media organisation said their news report was "distorted" to falsely promote the product.
