The test will involve the launch of a single-stage liquid propulsion rocket called the Test Vehicle (TV-D1), which will carry a crew module to an altitude of 17 km before making a safe touchdown in the Bay of Bengal. The success of this test flight will pave the way for further qualification tests and unmanned missions, with the goal of launching the Gaganyaan programme with Indian astronauts in 2025.
