Back in march the house agreed overwhelmingly with 316 votes on a bill that would have funded amtrak at the same number $1.4 billion. it was a bipartisan bill. within that bill the northeast corridor the profits made would have gone back directly into the northeast corridor so you could have put that safety system in that area where it happened. you can redo the track in that area if you wanted to. what ended up happening is because of the budget caps put in place by the sequester dating back to 2011 they weren't able to find offsets back from march so they were trying to slash the 250 million...
