At least five US Government agencies have been breached in the latest attack aimed at the government, an official at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency says.
"CISA is aware of at least five federal civilian agencies who have run the Pulse Connect Secure Integrity Tool and identified indications of potential unauthorised access," deputy executive assistant director of Cybersecurity, Matt Hartman, said in
CNN.
"We are working with each agency to validate whether an intrusion has occurred and will offer incident response support accordingly."

Nation-State Actor Linked to Pulse Secure Attacks

A new zero-day vulnerability in Ivanti's Pulse Connect Secure products is being combined with recently patched flaws to attack U.S. federal agencies.
The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Ivanti and FireEye report that U.S. federal agencies and other entities have been compromised by two attack groups.
"Their primary goals are maintaining long-term access to networks, collecting credentials, and stealing proprietary data," says Charles Carmakal, senior vice president and CTO with FireEye Mandiant. "We believe that multiple cyberespionage groups are using these exploits and tools, and there are some similarities between portions of this activity and a Chinese actor we call APT5."

Studies ID risks, impact of remote work - Internet

Studies ID risks, impact of remote work
A return to the office is likely in the near future for a number of Americans as the vaccine roll-out continues throughout the States, but that doesn't mean all workers will or want to return to an office full-time. While the current remote or hybrid working environment continues, three new reports highlight the ways remote working situations may be hurting businesses.
First, new data out from Ivanti warns that employees are putting their workplaces at risk because of their password habits. According to the 2021 Secure Consumer Cyber Report about one-quarter of employees use work emails and/or passwords while at home - for things like delivery apps and services, shopping platforms, and even dating apps.

Ivanti's 2021 Secure Consumer Cyber Report reveals that risky consumer behaviour while working from home is putting organisations in great jeopardy of cyberattacks
Employees working from home are putting their organisations at increased risk of cyberattacks by exercising poor security hygiene, according to a report released by Ivanti, the automation platform that helps make every IT connection smarter and more secure. The 2021 Secure Consumer Cyber Report found that one-fifth of consumers admit to recycling their work email or password to log in to consumer websites and applications such as food delivery apps, online shopping sites and even dating apps.
The Secure Consumer Cyber Report surveyed 1,000 UK consumers who have been working from home during the pandemic on a company-issued computer to examine how consumer and enterprise cybersecurity habits have changed. The report's findings reveal that poor security hygiene and gaps in enterprise cybersecurity strategies are putting businesses at risk.
