Sorry for Party Rocking While the former Lucky You Lounge still has plenty of live concerts on its schedule, it’s obvious that DJ nights will be a big part of the venue’s plan. To take a page out of SNL icon Stefon’s book, “Spokane’s hottest new club is the Chameleon.” With its lush jungle aesthetics and new video projection system, the Chameleon already has the vibe of a nightclub where (despite its camouflage-suggesting name) people want to be seen and party the night away without the awful parts about some stereotypical clubs (manufactured exclusivity, annoying lines, egotistical bouncers, everything being wildly overpriced, etc.). Club Cham will be in full effect during “Sorry for Party Rocking,” a dance night centered on charting bangers from 2010-2015 (Rihanna, Icona Pop, Ke$ha, Calvin Harris, Lil John, etc.).

The Detroit rapper certainly stands out from the pack with his often abrasive and high-pitched nasal voice, one that proves too big a hurdle for some hip-hop heads. But those who aren’t turned off by his atypical delivery tend to love it. Pretty much every album he puts out receives loads of critical praise and is a near-lock to make most major publications’ year-end lists. This includes both of his 2023 efforts: Quaranta and his collaborative record with JPEGMafia Scaring the Hoes. Disney Princess: The Concert Calling all Disney-loving adults and their children: If you know every word of “Let It Go” by heart, you’ll want to check out the upcoming Disney Princess: The Concert. Immerse yourself in princess-sung classics like “A Whole New World” and “Just Around the Riverbend,” performed by Broadway professionals Alyssa Fox (she’s currently on standby as Elsa in Broadway’s Frozen), Syndee Winters (playing The Lion King’s Nala on Broadway) and Hiba Elchikhe (she’s played Aladdin’s Jasmine). While the performers won’t be dressed in costume, audience members are encouraged to wear their best royal attire for an evening filled with 30 renowned songs. Animation and theatrical effects accompany the music to create that special Disney feel.

Bolero! w/ Makenu & Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show San Francisco's multicultural psychedelic rock group BOLERO! performs what they describe as "FREAK-FLAG-MUSIC," inspired by the Bay Area bands of the late 60s and early 70s. Formed in 2019, BOLERO! have become one of the house bands for S.F. venue The Chapel, and have supported such acts as Big Brother & The Holding Company, Johnny Echols & LOVE, Dakila, & more. MAD ALCHEMY is an Analog Liquid Light Show in the great San Francisco tradition of the Bay's 1960s Psychedelic Ballrooms. Principal Lance Gordon has been performing this art form since 1971. Matt Mitchell Music Co.: 'Obvious Euphoria' Album Release Show with The Holy Broke Matt Mitchell’s easy-going demeanor and casual folk charm are a lot sunnier than a lot of the topics he pens songs about. Such is the case on his newly released LP, Obvious Euphoria, which features folky Americana tunes about hard times breeding good songs (“Hourglass”), the depressive contraction of being lonely but not wanting to be around others (“Kerosene”) and a standout track about the downtrodden troubles at Spokane’s infamous Second and Division intersection (“Bootstrap Nation”). The album doesn’t feel gloomy though, and Mitchell has a bit more fun on rockin’ tracks about country music (“Country Gonna Kill Me”) and his own nomadic road dog lifestyle (“Captain Toyota”). While the album actually dropped in January, Mitchell is finally getting around to doing a proper full band release show at the Big Dipper with opening support from fellow Spokanite singer-songwriter The Holy Broke.

Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise, The Scratch We’re shipping up to Airway Heights! (Whoa oh oh!) The biggest show to date at Spokane Tribe Casino’s new Spokane Live venue space (which opened last October) features the always-great Bostonian, Celtic-tinged punk rock of Dropkick Murphys. While the band thrived just outside the mainstream for years with their wildly frenetic mosh pit-starting edge, the group really blew up when its song “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” was featured on the soundtrack for 2006’s Oscar-winning The Departed. The band continues to bring out the rowdy bunch — especially those with working class and Irish roots — which is clear from this Spokane Live show already being sold out. While release tickets are extremely pricey, maybe a lucky night at the casino show could offset that cost?
