Australia Boomers in last-minute Asia Cup clash with Tall Blacks
A week ago the Boomers named an Olympic squad headlined by NBA superstars Ben Simmons, Patty Mills and Joe Ingles. Next Saturday, in one of sport's more incredible COVID-19 twists, a group of mostly teenagers - some still at school - will wear the Boomers jersey in an Asia Cup qualifier against New Zealand in Cairns. NBA players are rarely available for Asia Cup fixtures but even NBL players have been granted an exemption from this hastily-arranged fixture as they prepare to gather in Melbourne for the NBL Cup. Former NBL player Matt Kenyon is the most experienced in the Boomers squad.
