The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and the city of Jackson have agreed to a fine related to two weeks' without trash pickup in 2023.
Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said a company has been selected to possibly take over garbage collection in the city of Jackson.
There was a heated exchange during Tuesday’s Jackson City Council meeting over the mayor’s lack of action to push a new request for proposals.
"It never should have gotten to this point," Jackson resident says.
