Licence to Kill (1989) Timothy Dalton: James Bond Revisited

Licence to Kill (1989) Timothy Dalton: James Bond Revisited
April 1, 2021 by:
The Timothy Dalton James Bond era came to an end with 1989's LICENCE TO KILL, one of the most controversial James Bond movies ever made. A notable disappointment at the North American box office, many thought the film was too violent and owed too much to contemporary action films of the era, such as DIE HARD, LETHAL WEAPON and TV's MIAMI VICE. It would take six whole years for the next 007 outing to get made, but it would be without Dalton, who would leave the role in 1993, with his proposed final outing, THE PROPERTY OF A LADY, never getting made.

A View to a Kill (1985) - Roger Moore: James Bond Revisited

A View to a Kill (1985) - Roger Moore: James Bond Revisited
March 7, 2021 by:
Welcome back to another installment of James Bond Revisited. Sadly, our time with Roger Moore is coming to an end in this, his last go-round as 007, A VIEW TO A KILL. Much maligned by fans and critics (even if it developed something of a cult following in recent years), this 1985 release proved to be Moore's swan song in the role, with him being pretty open in his biography ("My Word is My Bond") about how he felt he was now too old for the part.
The film, which was an attempt to recapture the magic of GOLDFINGER, albeit with microchips as opposed to gold, stars Christopher Walken as Max Zorin, a genetically engineered madman with ties to the KGB. Disco diva Grace Jones co-stars as his henchwoman May Day, while the late Tanya Roberts is Moore's leading lady, Stacy Sutton. The score, by John Barry, is top-shelf and features one of the best 007 theme songs, "A View to a Kill" by Duran Duran! Check out our run-down of this controversial but still enjoyable outing.

Never Say Never Again (Sean Connery) James Bond Revisited

Never Say Never Again (Sean Connery) James Bond Revisited

Octopussy, which opened to blockbuster business worldwide, while the other was the one-off
NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN, which featured none other than Sean Connery slipping on his tux for the first time in twelve years. How did this come to be? The story is a complicated one involving lawyers, rights issues, copyright, and more.
Suffice to say it was an event or rather an anti-climax as the film was indifferently received by confused fans. A remake of
Thunderball,
Never Say Never Again is a unique Bond film in that, in many ways, it's not a James Bond movie at all. How so? Join us on this week's James Bond Revisited as we explore this Connery-led one-off, with Kim Basinger as his Bond girl!

Octopussy (1983): Roger Moore - James Bond Revisted

Octopussy (1983): Roger Moore - James Bond Revisted

Welcome back to James Bond Revisited, where we take a look back at all the 007 movies counting down to the eventual release of No Time to Die, which should come out... someday. This week, we're taking a look at Roger Moore's much-maligned second-to-last James Bond outing, OCTOPUSSY, which went up against Sean Connery's Never Say Never Again in the 1983 Battle of the Bonds and won!
Here's the thing - I love Octopussy. As a child, it was probably my favorite James Bond movie, so I have a weird, elemental connection to it. Is it critically a good movie? You tell me in the talkback below, but as you'll see in this video, it's a movie that's close to my heart. But, did you know James Brolin was all set to take over the part and Roger Moore only came back at the last minute? Check out our video and see why for yourself!

For Your Eyes Only (1981) Roger Moore: James Bond Revisited

For Your Eyes Only (1981) Roger Moore: James Bond Revisited
January 18, 2021 by:
In 1981,
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY marked a new era for James Bond in more ways than one. After going to space in the controversial (but wildly successful)
Moonraker, the choice was made to bring James Bond Movies back down to earth. To that end, John Glen was promoted to director, a post he would keep all through the eighties, while Roger Moore's James Bond was given a mature, order edged overhaul. The result was a critically acclaimed, successful Bond outing that stands as one of the series most underrated gems.

The Spy Who Loved Me: James Bond Revisited

The Spy Who Loved Me: James Bond Revisited

Welcome back to James Bond Revisited, where we revisit all the Bond films movie by movie. Following the disaster that was
The Man With The Golden Gun, EON had to pull out all the stops for the next make-or-break instalment.
Complicating matters was a tricky rights situation that meant a longer delay between films, which arguably worked to
The Spy Who Loved Me's advantage, with it generally considered Roger Moore's greatest turn as 007. Do we agree? It certainly does have all the elements, from Barbara Bach as Agent XXX, to Richard Kiel as Jaws, the Lotus Espirit, and of course Carly Simon's iconic song, "Nobody Does It Better". Check it out!
