DALLAS -- Southwest Airlines scrubbed thousands of flights again Tuesday in the aftermath of the massive winter storm that wrecked Christmas travel plans across the U.S., and the federal government said it would investigate why the company lagged so far behind other carriers.
Major U.S. airlines were broadsided by the massive weekend winter storm that swept across large swaths of the country but had largely recovered heading into Monday, except for one.
Problems at Southwest Airlines appeared to snowball after the worst of the recent winter storm passed.
Many airlines were forced to cancel flights due to the weather, but Southwest was by far the leader in canceled flights.
Disruptions are expected to continue into Tuesday and possibly Wednesday as the airline recovers from massive winter storms.
