Forest Hill Avenue around Moody Pond is mainly in the village of Saranac Lake, with small portions within the domains of the towns of St. Armand and North Elba. Lake Placid a city? The Lake Placid Village Board Monday night named a five-man committee to look into the ramifications of establishing a city government to replace the present village organization. The move has been under consideration by the board for the past few months as a means of solving their financial problems. Mayor Robert Peacock said at a recent board meeting that the village has reached a point where it must look for an additional source of money beyond real estate taxes. The advantage of forming a city is that they could immediately establish a sales tax as a means of income.
