Complaints about bullying, sexual harassment and other misconduct within the Rural Fire Service will be presented to NSW Emergency Services Minister David Elliott and three other MPs this week by an RFS volunteer who says his own issues were not addressed.
The meetings, organised by Jeff Condren from the New England RFS district, follow a decision by RFS Commissioner Rob Rogers to call in Clayton Utz lawyers to review complaints after a grievance and discipline survey drew almost 2500 responses. That choice, though, drew its own criticism about a potential conflict of interest because of Clayton Utz’s long-standing ties with the service.
