Help sought for victims of Vernon fire


VERNON — Efforts are underway to help residents who were displaced by a massive fire that occurred Sunday morning in an apartment complex at 26 Union St.
The Cornerstone Foundation, a faith-based nonprofit that operates two homeless shelters, a soup kitchen, and a food pantry in town, is working to collect donations for the residents of the building, which has been deemed uninhabitable.
The fire displaced 27 people, including four children.
