The family of a 12-year-old girl in Kenosha filed a federal lawsuit after accusing an off-duty officer of kneeling on the girl’s neck while trying to break up a fight.

Jerrel Perez and his daughter are suing the Kenosha Unified School District, City of Kenosha and police officer Shawn Guetschow over "unreasonable" restraint.

A Kenosha officer resigned from the school district after he was accused of placing his knee on a girl's neck while breaking up a fight at Kenosha's Lincoln Middle School in March 2022, and on Monday, a federal civil rights lawsuit was filed on behalf of that student.
