Updated: 5:37 PM CDT May 21, 2021 Jessica Battista Reporter The pandemic has been a struggle for many people, and Michael Burlotos was one of those people struggling."My mental health wasn’t doing good, so I thought what can I do that was safe, and my future self would thank?" Burlotos said.Burlotos just moved to Atlanta before the pandemic for a job in financial technology. He felted isolated and wanted to do something that would bring him happiness."I completely changed the way I was living and that is to fill my life with experiences and not things," Burlotos said.So Burlotos and his Siberian husky Bailey decided to hit the road and head west. He cooked outside, showered at Planet Fitness locations, and would park his car in Walmart parking lots. However, after traveling, Burlotos decided to sell his car and numerous belongings and get rid of his apartment to live in a converted school bus. The bus is similar to a tiny home, it includes wireless internet, a kitchen, bathroom, a queen bed and a couch."It such a rich experience I couldn’t trade it," he said.Burlotos is not the only one who is embracing mobile life, this has become a popular trend on TikTok."I think with COVID, it has given people a perspective of what really matters," he said.Burlotos says he parks in Walmart parking lots, campgrounds that allow overnight parking and rest stops. He does not have an end date on when he will stop traveling, but he does have advice for people who are interested in this type of lifestyle."Life is too short, do the things that make you happy," Burlotos said.To follow Burlotos and his journey, click here.Watch the video above to learn more about this story.
