TOKYO – U.S. military bases in Japan reported 26 new coronavirus cases over the past seven days while the spring surge of COVID-19, the coronavirus respiratory disease, continued in the nation’s two largest cities. Osaka prefecture reported 1,099 new infections Tuesday, a new one-day record there, and eight deaths, according to public broadcaster NHK. Osaka has reported more than 900 new patients on three of the past seven days, according to its COVID-19 tracking website.
