Thank you both for joining me. john, let me start with you. let me start with your recent findings on all of this. you looked at homicide numbers from dozens of police departments across the country. why did you see? have only democratic run cities ben hotbeds? ? to start with cities, it s hard to say democrat versus republican. so many major cities are led by democrats. some democrats are very non progressive. some republicans are progressive. but i have found, and others have found this as well, is that there is no connection between the progressiveness of a prosecutor and got cities change in homicide, right? whatever is driving this is how much do you think the pandemic is driving, it drawn? i mean, i think the pandemic has been a huge role in it. the unrest following the murder of george floyd, in complicated ways, contributed. the police response also created all sorts of violence. ....
