Deputies began arriving at 1:15 p.m. When the first deputy arrived, the man fled on foot into a wooded area. “Deputies searched the wooded area for the suspect and ultimately encountered him, at which time he was shot,” a sheriff’s press release stated on Sunday. According to that initial report, the man sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to Central Florida Regional Medical Center in Sanford. A Florida man reportedly pulled out severed human ears from his pocket while being questioned on his grandfather's killing. Kolby Parker of DeLand initially told deputies that he was attacked by his grandfather Ronal Wells, Sr., while they are inside the home they shared, Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. John Herrell said, according to an Orlando Sentinel report. Parker, 30, claimed that the two fought after smoking marijuana together. The suspect said that Wells attacked him with a knife. Keshia Rytter, an East Ridge Middle School officer, was arrested after an argument that began when she called her boyfriend’s children’s hairstyle “ghetto,” according to the arrest report.
