The Gospel Train is a song that looks at the many different aspects of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As we go through the bible, the word Gospel is mentioned over one hundred times in the New Testament. The Gospel is the good news of the kingdom of God, and there are many aspects to it.
This song encourages us to ride the Gospel Train, by which I mean that we should learn all we can about the good news of the gospel and Jesus Christ. It is good news because through the gospel we have the promise of eternal life.
Recently, I had a woman write to me seeking prayer for healing for both herself and her sister. It quickly became apparent that she had no idea how the process of healing works in the Bible. Instead, she was following dangerous doctrines that will never lead to healing.
A dangerous doctrine
Her pastor had told her she had to “Speak your healing into existence!”
Nowhere in scripture does such a practice occur. Never did a sick person have to speak their own healing into existence. This is a false and dangerous doctrine.
It places all responsibility onto the sick person. If they follow this doctrine and are not healed, then the pastor can simply brush it off saying they don’t have enough faith.
God the Father did not say a lot in the Bible, but when He did speak you can guarantee that what He said was important.
One such time was during the transfiguration of Jesus when Peter, James, and John went up the mountain with Jesus. The Father made the following comments after Peter suggested making booths for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.
4 And Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is well that we are here; if you wish, I will make three booths here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Eli jah. 5 He was still speaking, when lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him. (Matthew chapter 17, verses 4 and 5)
There have been a few times in history that have changed the course of mankind. One such time was on Pentecost Day just a few short weeks after the most significant moment in history; the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Jesus had told the disciples not to leave Jerusalem before Pentecost Day for the promise of the Holy Spirit, prophesied by the prophet Joel, was to come upon them. And the Spirit did come with awesome power.
The disciples received the Holy Spirit who came upon them in flames of fire, with the rushing sounds of the wind, and with the gifts of speaking in tongues and prophecy.
