22 April 2021 West Midlands CA chief executive Deborah Cadman has taken the same role at Birmingham City Council on an interim basis. Ms Cadman will serve for the period up to the 2022 Commonwealth Games and local elections, after which the recruitment of a permanent chief will begin. In February the previous interim, Chris Naylor, returned to Barking & Dagenham LBC after a secondment in Birmingham concluded several months earlier than planned.
