After deliberating March 3, the Cherokee Nation Election Commission certified the candidacy of six tribal citizens who were previously deemed ineligible to run based on a lack of residency documents.
All but seven of this year’s election hopefuls were cleared to run for Cherokee Nation office in June.
Following a four-day filing period that ended Feb. 9, 41 hopefuls spent between $1,000 and $2,500 each to run for office in the Cherokee Nation’s June 3 General Election.
