Apple on Thursday announced an enhancement to repair processes that will enable customers and independent repair providers to utilise "used Apple parts in repairs" for select iPhone models.
Apple will inform users about the full part and repair histories of their devices. It will also tell users whether a part is a new or used genuine Apple part.
Apple's policy of pairing legitimate parts with its iPhones has come under scrutiny, but its head of hardware says it's all about privacy and security, not fighting right-to-repair.
