NZXT halted sales of its Xbox One-like case in December due to a “low probability occurrence” of a fire caused by screws connecting its PCIe riser cable to the case. Shortly after, the company started shipping nylon screws out as a repair kit and resumed sales of the case but now the H1 has been yanked from store shelves yet again after a Gamers Nexus investigation showed that the screws themselves aren’t the root problem, coaxing two different units into lighting ablaze. ....
Late last year, NZXT announced that it would be pausing sales and shipments of its Mini-ITX H1 case. This was due to a fire hazard caused by two screws included with the PCIe riser. New screws were sent out and the case went back on sale, but this has since been deemed a poor solution, so NZXT is pulling the case again. NZXT’s renewed apology and recall comes on the heels of a Gamers Nexus video. The video went live this week, calling out NZXT for the H1’s fire hazard issue. Even with multiple issues in the case design, NZXT thought it would be enough to provide a nylon replacement screw which was a stopgap advertised as a solution in NZXT s first statement. After many attempts of bringing up the issues, NZXT has issued a recall for the product and issued a public apology for the mishandling of the issue.
