Mansfield Police Arrest 22 Year Old After Shots Fired Near Johns Park

Apr 5, 2021
The Mansfield Division of Police responded to a “shots fired” call in the area of Johns Park Sunday evening April 4th, 2021 at approximately 7:31PM. Once in the area, officers on patrol heard a single gunshot coming from the area of Louise Avenue. As officers approached that location, they observed a Black male subject, jump from a porch and run to a red Jeep at which time the vehicle fled the wrong way on Louise Avenue at a high rate of speed. Officers activated emergency lights and sirens and engaged the Jeep in a short vehicle pursuit which ended after the driver fled southbound on foot towards 361 W. Longview Avenue, where he hopped multiple barbed wire fences in an effort to allude the officers. During the foot chase, the offender was observed to be in possession of a handgun. One of the Patrol Officers giving chase, ordered the suspect to stop and drop the gun at which time the offender fired one shot in the direction of that officer. The offender then ducked behind some brush in a wooded area at the rear of 441 West Longview Avenue. Officers located the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Jeremiah Marshall Jr. and he was taken into custody without further incident. A handgun and a spent shell casing were located in the area where the offender had jumped the fences and the shot was fired.
