Johor to shift strategies in managing Covid-19: MB

JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor state government is making a shift in the strategies used to manage the Covid-19 pandemic, said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad

In a posting on his official Facebook Hasni said this was because Johor was aware that Covid-19 would become endemic and exist in the community for a long time.
He said a new understanding should be practised by strengthening public health protocols so that Covid-19 could be managed more efficiently and effectively.
“These measures include increasing access to personal test kits, providing more allocations to obtain more vaccine supplies as well as other reasonable measures.

Hasni said the move proved that Singapore was also looking at ways and means to improve business and travelling for both Malaysian and Singaporean citizens.
“As we all know, two days ago, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein met his counterpart Dr Vivian Balakrishnan in Singapore to discuss bilateral issues which I believe will definitely give a lot of benefit to Johor.

Prolonged closure of Malaysia-S'pore border 'straining family ties'

JOHOR BARU • The Malaysian government needs to put more effort into reopening the border with Singapore as the 13-month-long closure is affecting families.
Malaysia-Singapore Workers Task Force president Dayalan Sreebalan said there was an increase in the number of cases related to depression and family crises, besides the agony of not seeing their loved ones since March 18 last year.
"I'm getting calls about spouses needing legal aid after a husband or wife is found to be having an affair. This has broken up many families. There was also a case of a woman who committed suicide here recently because of a similar incident," he said in an interview.
