Town boss Paul Lambert has made three changes as the Blues host Tranmere Rovers at Portman Road.

Goals from Luke Garbutt, Kayden Jackson, Jon Nolan and Kane Vincent-Young saw top-of-the-table Town to a 4-1 home victory over Tranmere Rovers. Garbutt’s superb freekick gave the Blues the lead on 35 but Stefan Payne deservedly levelled for Rovers four minutes later, however, after Jackson had rebounded another Garbutt freekick three minutes into the second half, Nolan nodded in the third and Vincent-Young sealed the victory for the still unbeaten Blues with a brilliant solo goal.

Boss Paul Lambert praised his side’s “absolutely fantastic” second half performance as they beat Tranmere Rovers 4-1 at Portman Road but felt it should have come as no surprise that the visitors made life tough for his team before the break.

Manager Paul Lambert says he’s been pleased with Flynn Downes since he made his return to the first team as a sub in the Fulham and Bristol Rovers games but that the midfielder and centre-half Luke Woolfenden face a fight to get back in the team despite having been two of the club’s top performers last season.

Jack Lankester made a big impact on his return to the Blues picking up two assists having come off the bench in last week’s 2-0 win at Bristol Rovers, but boss Paul Lambert says the 20-year-old’s comeback has to be taken slowly following his lengthy absence after twice undergoing surgery for stress fractures to his back.
