Armed Man Arrested Following Foot Pursuit, Assaulting Deputy After Fleeing a Traffic Stop
On December 30, 2022, at around forty minutes after midnight, an El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputy initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle southbound on Powers Boulevard near Platte Avenue. This area is a jurisdictional boundary between the City of Colorado Springs and unincorporated El Paso County. The vehicle immediately speed away from the deputy, continuing southbound on Powers Boulevard. The deputy did not pursue. The vehicle crashed a short distance later near Powers Boulevard's intersection with Airport Road in the City of Colorado Springs.
