The Faces of Forgiveness in the Wake of Terror

COMMENTARY
Editor’s Note:  Ten years ago, Palestinian terrorists murdered Kristine Luken and nearly killed her friend Kay Wilson.  In the article, Jonathan Feldstein interviews Kathleen Luken, Kristine’s identical twin sister about how she grapples with forgiveness in the face of terror.  Feldstein is the founder of the Genesis 123 Foundation, a Jewish non-profit organization whose “mission is to build bridges between Jews and Christians with Israel in ways that are new, unique, and meaningful.”
Ten years ago, two Palestinian Arabs lay in wait along a pristine hiking trail on the slopes of the Judean mountains outside Jerusalem. Unlike terrorists who blow up buses or cafes or attack civilians on the street, these men waited for their victims to come to them, knowing that on the beautiful sunny Shabbat (Sabbath) day, people would flock to this well-known area.
