A former AFL star was almost left a quadriplegic after slamming into the back of a van last week while riding his bicycle. Jonathan Hay, 41, posted confronting photos to social media showing the extent of his injuries and wrote a candidly about the fear he felt in the aftermath. 'All I could think about was my children, how am I going to be able to father them properly when I can't look after myself,' the Hawthorn and North Melbourne defender, who retired in 2007, wrote. The 153-game veteran was riding along Beach Road last Tuesday when a black van pulled out and stopped in the bike lane.
