Former SpaceX engineer Darby Dunn has taken on a role at Commonwealth Fusion Systems, a nuclear fusion energy start-up, in an attempt to make a significant impact in her lifetime by cleaning up the planet, rather than making life multiplanetary. The company's aim is to build 10,000 fusion power plants around the world by 2050, with a key goal being to demonstrate net energy by 2025. Dunn is heading up operations and aiming to build scalable manufacturing processes that can be used to produce high-temperature superconducting magnets. Commonwealth has raised over $2bn from investors including Google, Bill Gates and Khosla Ventures. ....
