ALOR SETAR: Two Syrian brothers today pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here to a charge of offering a bribe of RM10,000 to an Immigration officer in Langkawi in January last year. The accused, Ali Esmail Hamed, 38, and his brother Alaa Esmail, 35, made the confession after the charge was read to them by an interpreter before Judge Murtazadi Amran. According to the charge sheet, the two were accused of offering cash of RM10,000 to Langkawi branch Assistant Superintendent of Immigration Mohd Hazwan Othman at Yasmeen Express Restaurant Pantai Chenang at 12.50 am, on Jan 22, 2020. ....

ALOR SETAR: A National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) assistant officer and a former staff pleaded not guilty today in the Sessions Court to accepting a RM3,000 bribe five years ago. Norzarenawati Osman, 38, Kulim AADK assistant officer and Erwan Yahya, 45, former assistant at Kuala Muda AADK, claimed trial after the charge was read out to them before Judge Murtazadi Amran. The two accused were jointly charged with accepting the bribe from one Muhammad Russul Muhammad Radzi, as an inducement to release a man who tested positive for syabu. ....

ALOR SETAR: A primary school headmistress pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to six counts of accepting bribes amounting to RM6,837, in 2014 and 2015. Noorlida Selamat, 56, made the plea after the charges against her were read out by a court interpreter before Judge Murtazadi Amran. On the first count, the accused who was the headmistress for Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Pasir Kechil, Sungai Petani, was charged with receiving RM450 through her Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) bank account, from Awang Kechik Bakar whom she knew had connection with her official duties. ....

ALOR SETAR: Two former executives of a solid waste management and public cleansing concessionaire in the state pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to receiving RM170,000 in bribes to approve false claims in 2017 and 2018. The accused, namely Environment Idaman Sdn Bhd (E-Idaman) former chief executive officer Mhd Saiful Anuar Zainal, 51, and former chief operating officer Azmi Amin Sarji, 51, made the plea after the charges were read out before Judge Murtazadi Amran. For the first count, the two accused were jointly charged with receiving a bribe of RM170,000 from Syarikat Azhar Prestige Environment Sdn Bhd as an inducement to approve payment to the company even though no work was done. ....
