Jane: a lot of attention i probably don t have to tell you already on the november midterms and whether republicans can gain ground on democrats. well, the senate race in pennsylvania is one of several generating a whole lot of buzz. democratic congressman joe sestak and republican candidate pat toomey faced off in the philly. absent from the debate, though, democratic senator arlen specter. molly line, those candidates certainly weren t going to let anybody forget that specter skipped that debate. why did he? reporter: yeah, certainly very noticeable. i spoke briefly with specter s folks, and essentially they said he agreed to do one debate. it s slated for may 1st, it s a saturday night. who knows how many people will tune into that. they have yet to have the primary here, slated more may 18th. specter has to beat democratic challenger joe sestak although specter is lead anything the polls for this. toomey agreed to debate sestak, ....
Big boost. first of all, the $50 million plant would bring construction jobs, then there would be 50 permanent jobs, and that may not sound like a lot, but in a town of only about 1,030 people, it would be the largest employer in the city. it would bring in about a million dollars a year in tax revenue, they might be able to reopen the high school which had to close because of lack of a tax base. the town s elected leaders say there is plenty of water, it rains about 80inchs and a year, and that resource can help lift the entire city. it is the public s water, and the money that will be made will help the public, will help our community. reporter: and unemployment in cascade locks, jane? 18 president, twice the 18%, twice the state average. obviously, the people there want the jobs. jane: let us know what happens. dan springer, thanks. fox news has been on the job hunt for nearly six months now ....
