By Demola Akinyemi Chairman of the Kwara State Commission on Assets Recovery, retired Justice Olabanji Orilonishe, yesterday  said several of the government properties sold by the past administrations were undervalued and sold at giveaway prices. He lamented that deliberate policies were made to “enrich some individuals and siphon money out of the state.” Orilonishe, who spoke while presenting the three-volume report to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq   in Ilorin, noted that the discoveries showed that the state was milked “to complete hopelessness and a standstill.” According to him, many policies related to sale or management of public assets offered “avenues for reckless expenditure to enrich some individuals,” arguing that the state, owing largely to such practices, was the least developed of the 12 states created in 1967.
