Manipuri culture exponent and former director of Manipur art and culture department K Sobita Devi, while expressing happiness over the new development, said the government has recognised the rich culture of the state.

The Kokyet, a turban from Manipur, has been chosen as part of the dress code for the Marshals of the Indian parliament. The Indian government is introducing new uniform codes for both houses of the parliament, including Nehru jackets and camouflage for different staff members. The decision has been welcomed by Manipuri culture experts, who see it as a recognition of the state's rich culture. However, there are concerns about which specific type of turban has been chosen and whether it will respect the cultural traditions of Manipur.

Minister Basanta suggested the museum authorities to send a written application to the government so that the issues regarding shortage of staff and security be taken care of.
