PHC orders removal of encroachments along rivers - Newspaper

PESHAWAR: A Peshawar High Court bench on Thursday directed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to ramp up efforts for removing encroachments along canals and rivers across the province and submit a report to the court.
A two-member bench comprising PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Syed M Attique Shah directed that the anti-encroachment drive should be carried out across the board and no pick and choose policy should be adopted.
The bench observed that mafias had carried out massive encroachments along the rivers and canals. The bench wondered as to how permission had been granted to those elements for such illegal construction. ....

Kaghan Development Authority prepares Rs 37.7 mn project for promotion of ecotourism

Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) has prepared a mega project amounting to Rs 37.7 million to promote ecotourism at scenic Kaghan valley in Mansehra district.
Under the project, focus would be made on purchase of vehicles and equipment for speedy disposal of waste and ensuring cleanliness in Kaghan. Officials at the Civil Secretariat told APP that two dump trucks, 22 containers, two mechanical tractor sweepers and 66 dust bins would be purchased.
Four mini dumpers have already been purchased in the first phase of the project and have reached Mansehra. The official said the project has been approved by the KP Government and practical work has been started in this regard. The project was necessitated at Kaghan where the rush of tourists has increased manifolds in the last couple of weeks after lifting of travel restrictions on tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. ....

MANSEHRA: The coronavirus positivity rate has plunged drastically because of the effective enforcement of the weeklong lockdown across the district.
“The positivity rate could have gone up had effective measures not taken to ensure the enforcement of the Covid-19 lockdown before and after the Eid. And now it is under control,” Dr Qasim Ali Khan, the deputy commissioner, told reporters here on Saturday.
He said that the police and officials of the revenue department were deployed at 13 places to ensure no tourist could enter the tourist destinations of Kaghan valley and Shogran. ....

NARAN (Dunya News) – The main Kaghan road leading to Naran has been restored for tourists after closure for consecutive five months due to snowfall in last winter season.
Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) said that the work is in progress to reopen the routes leading to Gilgit from Naran.
However, Babusar Top has yet to be restored which may take a few more days.
