INAUGURATION OF THE MILITARY WIVES ASSOCIATION OF KENYA The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Defence Amb. Dr. Monica Juma officially inaugurated the Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK)at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi on Wednesday, 17 March 2021. The association provides a platform to exchange ideas, interact and provide benefits to members, as a support system to families of the deceased, persons with disability, retired and serving personnel of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). In her opening remarks, the MWAK treasurer Mrs. Aileen Ogolla, thanked the Ministry of Defence and all the partners on board in supporting the journey that has led to the birth of association. ....
Chief of the Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi on Thursday, 11 March 2021 officially launched the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Covid -19 vaccination exercise at Kahawa Garrison, Nairobi. In his address, General Kibochi said that adhering to the ministry of Health laid down Covid-19 protocols has enabled KDF to fight the global pandemic within and outside KDF and the vaccine has come in handy to boost this effort. “Even as we get to receive the vaccine, it should not be lost on all of us that the ultimate tool at our disposal remains prevention, as epitomized in hand washing/sanitizing, use of masks and social distancing. These must continue to be our daily routine; and I call on all commanders to continue to enforce these protocols to the letter and each and every one, including our families to take personal responsibility in adhering to the protocols,” said the CDF. ....
According to international reports, a batch of shots has caused “serious cases of blood clots among vaccinated people” prompting the countries to halt it as the European Medicine Authority (EMA) launched investigations into the jab. This came as Kenya’s Health ministry assured the public that so far no adverse side effects have been reported locally. “I have not heard of any reports and we haven’t received any communication in that regard,” said Dr Patrick Amoth, the acting Health director-general. “We have not heard any cases of adverse reactions amongst our recipients.” A recipient of the jab, Dr Amoth said he only experienced soreness at the site of injection after receiving his first dose last week, which wore off after 24 hours. ....
