The Justice Department has announced the sentencing of the seventh and final member of an Alabama family accused of running an “expansive cockfighting operation.”

Led by William "Jim Easterling, the Easterling family in Chilton County ran the illegal operation for years.
The indictment reads that, beginning at least as early as January 2018 and continuing through June, the defendants maintained a cockfighting arena or “pit” with stadium seating for about150 people and several rings to host cockfights.
