Vaccination is starting this morning, Wednesday 3 March, at George Hospital, the only registered vaccination site in the district. ....

GEORGE NEWS - Mediclinic George could report today, Friday 26 February, that there are no Covid-19 patients in the hospital.
We admitted the last seriously ill Covid patient on 25 January, but apart from him we have had to treat only milder cases. We are all relieved that we are over the second wave, but wish to urge everyone not to slacken adherence to the necessary hygiene measures and to wear their masks, said the manager, Kassie Karstens.
Visiting hours to the hospital have been extended and are now 10:00-12:00 and 15:00-20:00.
As at 23 February, the Garden Route had 22 hospitalised Covid-19 patients in private and public hospitals, which is the lowest since early November last year, according to the head of the district s disaster management section, Gerhard Otto. ....

GEORGE NEWS - Mediclinic George is able to resume elective surgeries today, 1 February, due to the continuing decline in Covid-19 cases.
We are fortunately seeing a reduction in cases and admissions and are happy that we can also reintroduce visiting hours, but only one visitor at a time. Covid patients are not allowed to receive any visitors, said the manager, Kassie Karstens. ....

GEORGE NEWS - Public hospitals in the Western Cape are currently under severe pressure. 
A sharp increase in Covid-19 admissions and an increase in trauma cases, such as alcohol-related injuries and road accidents, are the cause of the situation.
People are waiting with baited breath for a possible proclamation that might change the levels of lockdown. The pressure hospitals are currently experiencing is the main point of discussion. According to a report in a Sunday newspaper, doctors have pleaded for stricter regulations. ....
