Fifty-four persons, including 48 students and the driver of a school bus, were injured when the vehicle ferrying them collided head-on with a Punjab Roadways bus near Kothey Baggu village in Jagraon on the Ludhiana-Ferozepur highway near here.

The case was registered on the statement of one Tamannapreet Kaur of Kaunke Khurd village and her classmates and their parents who told police that the school took tuition fee of Rs 1200 per month from them.

Jagraon AAP MLA Sarvjit Kaur Manuke said that students were carrying handwritten slips given by the school claiming they were “roll numbers issued by the Board” but they “were found to be fake when students reached the exam centre.”
